Frequently asked questions
Which circuit breaker curve should I choose: B, C or D?
The C curve suits the vast majority of circuits in a home or small business: sockets, lighting, heating. The B curve trips earlier and is meant for long cable runs, where the short-circuit current stays low. The D curve tolerates the high inrush current of motors, pumps and transformers without tripping at start-up.
Do I need a 6 kA or a 10 kA circuit breaker?
The breaking capacity must be at least equal to the prospective short-circuit current where the breaker is installed. In a home supplied by the low-voltage grid, 6 kA is usually enough. The 10 kA version is required close to a transformer and in commercial or industrial installations. This calculation is the installer’s job.

The breaker rating is chosen from the maximum output current given in the inverter datasheet and from the cable cross-section. It is backed by residual current protection and a surge protector in the consumer unit, since the inverter is connected to the grid and exposed to its surges.
